International Club
LHS boasts a unique international travel program for a school its size. Biannual three-week trips to Europe – including Spain, France and the British Isles – allow eligible students to explore new cultures through a well-organized, safe, reputable program supervised by school administrators and educators.
Our German exchange program with Melanchthon-Schule near Kassel is a partnership started by previous LHS educators Diane and Dale Herder more than 45 ago. Every other fall, a small group of students from Melanchthon-Schule visit Laingsburg for two weeks and stay with students who will in turn visit their visitor’s home in Germany the following summer. It is an opportunity to build lifelong relationships with peers and their families while learning about how education in other countries differs.
Laingsburg families show their German visitors our great state when the students are not in class or participating in educational endeavors organized by the district. After our students complete their visit to Melanchthon-Schule the following year, they continue their travels throughout Europe for several days.
