FFA Students

What is FFA?

FFA is an organization dedicated to helping students develop leadership skills as a part of agriculture education. At first FFA was an acronym for Future Farmers of America. However, the name has changed now, along with the emphasis of the organization, to showcasing the importance of the agricultural industry and its connection to many other careers. Students work on premier leadership, personal growth, and career success by participating in the FFA.

Participation

FFA is an intracurricular organization which means it is highly connected to the agriculture, food, and natural resources topics being discussed in the courses. Students enrolled in Ag Biology during their freshman year are automatically a member of the FFA. In order to maintain their membership, they must continue to enroll in agriculture education courses for at least 2 more years of their high school career. If a student elects to not be in an ag class one year, they must still declare their intention to be a member of the FFA and participate in activities such as attending meetings.

Getting Involved

FFA provides a multitude of ways for members to get involved including:

  • Leadership and Skills Contests

  • State and National Conventions

  • Community Service

  • Camps and Conferences

In addition, FFA offers a great opportunity to network with actual business professionals through Supervised Agricultural Experiences and provides scholarship opportunities for pursuing higher education.
