Building a Legacy ... Wolfpack Wrestling

Established in 2010, and competing in its first ever High School Wrestling season in the same year, LHS students are finally able to represent the Wolfpack and step out on the mat proudly wearing their school colors, red and white.

The LHS wrestling program, while a recognized Varsity sport, is self-funded and run by volunteers of the Laingsburg Youth Wrestling Club and the Laingsburg Community. The passion for wrestling in Laingsburg, and ultimately wrestling being recognized as a Varsity sport, can be attributed to a successful youth program.

The LYW Club turns out a group of recognized young competitors each season resulting in State Qualifiers, State Placers and State Champions. Many in the youth wrestling community find this amazing since there had never been a LHS Varsity wrestling program. This stands as a tribute to the dedication of our youth coaches, wrestlers, families and the Laingsburg community.

Wrestling, with roots dating back tens of thousands of years, is a team sport composed of individual performances by each wrestler with no help from their teammates. Therefore, the outcomes can be both individually gratifying and extremely disappointing depending on the results, win or lose. Wrestling also provides its athletes with the opportunity to excel individually, each wrestler determining their own destiny and attainment of the ultimate goal, an individual State Championship title.

Wrestling is a very physically and mentally demanding sport, where physical strength alone wins few wrestling matches, superior technique and tactics prevail almost every time. In addition, wrestling can be an excellent tool for molding character and teaching young men and women self-discipline, commitment, perseverance, and responsibility, along with other attributes becoming of young athletes.
