Seniors
College Applications - Seniors should begin completing college applications starting
August 15th. Online applications are available on the college website. Applications
should be submitted to the college by September 30th.
Transcripts - A transcript can be requested through
Parchment.com. Students should
create an account in Parchment, then request a transcript be sent to the college where
where they are applying.
College Entrance Exam Scores - ACT or SAT scores should be requested by the student
directly from the College Board or ACT. All colleges will require scores before admissions
decisions will be made.
College Planning Night - Students and Parents are invited to participate in an evening of
planning, preparing, and gaining as much information as possible to help students prepare
for college. Topics of discussion will be college applications, transcripts, SAT and ACT,
Financial Aid (FAFSA) and much more. Meeting is September 18th at 6:30 pm in LGR.
FAFSA - Free Application For Federal Student Aid
All students planning to attend college must complete a financial aid form at
FAFSA.gov. The financial aid application is available beginning October 1st.
For priority consideration of State aid programs, complete the FAFSA by March 1.
College Visits - The best way to decide if a particular college is a good fit is to visit the
college. Students should set up visits through the college admissions office during their
junior and/or senior year. Another way to learn about a college is to attend the college
visits happening at LHS. Many colleges will set up visitations at the high school so that
students can become familiar with them. Students can sign up in the Guidance Office to
visit with College Admissions Representatives. Schedule to date is as follows:

Central Michigan University - September 20th 10:30 am
Michigan State University - September 25th 9:00 am
Northern Michigan University - September 26th 10:00 am

Grand Valley State University - September 27th 8:00 am
Financial Aid Night - Students and Parents are invited to a Financial Aid Night where
local specialists will be presenting information on how to complete the FAFSA form.
Please join us on October 16th at 6:30 in the LGR and get your questions answered
regarding Financial Aid.

Juniors
PSAT - Juniors will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT Test on October 10th.
To register, students should sign up in the Guidance Office by September 20th. Cost is
$17. This test is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test where students can earn
scholarship money with a qualifying score.
